The Higher the Magnification - The More Detail You'll See

Magnification is the ability of your microscope to make small objects seem larger. As the magnification increases the area being viewed will be decrease is size but the detail of the area being viewed will improve.

Amscope microscopes come with multiple magnifications to aid you in finding the proper magnification for viewing each specimen.

Camera Connection Types

When comparing 2.0 and 3.0 there are few major differences. First the transfer rates. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps - that's 10 times faster.

Camera Resolution

The most important factor in ensuring successful microscopic imaging is choosing the appropriate optics and camera for your application that gives you more data and higher image quality. When selecting a microscope camera, it is best to base your decision on the most important requirements for your microscopic observation.

Key Features

  • 3.5X-180X extended zoom magnification using high-quality Greenough stereoscopic objective lenses with 10X and 20X eyepieces, and 0.5X and 2X Barlow lenses.
  • The microscope provides up to 6.5" (165mm) of working distance.
  • A highly-versatile stereo microscope on a heavy-duty, multi-pivot boom-stand which allows the microscope to easily swing into place when needed, and away when not.
  • Dual diopters can be adjusted to maintain consistent focus throughout the magnification range, greatly improving productivity.
  • The stereo optics provide upright images with clear depth-of-field and a wide view for hands-on applications.
  • A trinocular photo-port provides a dedicated mount for adding a camera.
  • This microscope is ideal for laboratories, repair shops, and engravers.
  • The 144-LED ring-light uses a power module with four subdivisions to produce either directional light or an encompassing ring of light.

The SM-4T is a heavy-duty, highly-flexible microscope designed for biological and industrial applications. This model is especially popular in the QC, repair and engraving industries thanks to its ease-of-use and reliability. With its wide zoom range and double-arm boom-stand, this model will become an indispensable instrument in any workshop or lab.

Optics

The stereo optics provide clear, sharp images with excellent focus-depth and a large working-distance. With 0.7X-4.5X zoom objectives, moving through the magnification range is as easy as turning a knob. 10X and 20X eyepieces are included, as well as 0.5X and 2X Barlow lenses to provide an expanded magnification range from 3.5X-180X, with high-eyepoint optics to accommodate glasses or goggles.

Ocular Adjustment

Dual ocular diopters can be adjusted to maintain consistent focus, greatly improving productivity. Rotating interpupillary adjusters simplify the process of aligning the eyepieces for each user.

Trinocular Port

The switched trinocular photo-port provides a dedicated mount for a camera. When the photo-port is switched open, all light from the left objective is diverted to the port to provide maximum brightness for the camera to guarantee the best quality images. This microscope uses our CX series trinocular port, so it can be easily replaced with optional C-mount ports to match specific cameras.

Double-arm Boom-Stand

The multi-pivoting, double-arm stand provides a stable, flexible support system, ideal for hands-on work. Use of a drop-down column allows the head to be positioned at virtually any angle. Ball-bearings provide smooth movement of the lateral arms, which can easily pivot the microscope out of the way when it is not needed. The heavy, steel base ensures the stability of the microscope, even when laden with attachments.

Additional Items

This package includes a 144-LED ring-light with quadrant-control for bright and cool illumination. This lightweight illuminator mounts to the microscope’s objective housing, and projects a smooth, encompassing field of light over objects, eliminating most shadows. When you need some shadows to bring out more details, the power-controller provides control over four subdivisions to manipulate the directionality of the light. You can cast light from the top, bottom, or either side in order to bring out the necessary topological details. Whether used as the sole light-source or in combination with additional illuminators, the ring-light produces a crucial light pattern for virtually any application. Energy-efficient and producing low heat, this ring-light can be used with biological specimens as well as industrial.

Good, even excellent with some caveats

Let me begin by saying that the optics are excellent and the 144 led lighting, while feels somewhat flimsy and did require some imagination to attach securely, is a very good lighting solution. Boom stand is okay, tilts easily even though the base weights quite a lot. Fixed by adding weight on the stand. Easy to put together even without any manual as long as you have at least some basic knowledge about microscopes. Most of the assembly process considers the boom stand while the microscope head is pretty much assembled except for the oculars and the optional magnifying lenses. The field of view is not something I would call wide, but rather sufficient. Uneven black borders of the FOV, which appear to reside in the black coating on the ocular prisms, leads to a cheapish impression even though it is just a minor cosmetic issue. Functionality? No complaints. Considering microsoldering, it does the same as more expensive counterparts just as well but with considerably lower price. Biological samples can be examined quite nicely, I've used it to identify and diagnose parasites extracted from my foster animals, like ear mites, with ease.
