The Higher the Magnification - The More Detail You'll See

Magnification is the ability of your microscope to make small objects seem larger. As the magnification increases the area being viewed will be decrease is size but the detail of the area being viewed will improve.

Amscope microscopes come with multiple magnifications to aid you in finding the proper magnification for viewing each specimen.

Camera Connection Types

When comparing 2.0 and 3.0 there are few major differences. First the transfer rates. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps - that's 10 times faster.

Camera Resolution

The most important factor in ensuring successful microscopic imaging is choosing the appropriate optics and camera for your application that gives you more data and higher image quality. When selecting a microscope camera, it is best to base your decision on the most important requirements for your microscopic observation.

Key Features

    • 40X to 2000X magnification range for studying a range of specimens including hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. 10X and 20X eyepieces provide 8 unique magnification settings.
    • A top choice for veterinarians, clinics, and classrooms, this microscope provides high quality optics and precision mechanics.
    • Professional features include a Siedentopf trinocular head for precise adjustments, a 2-layer mechanical stage with low-position controls, and coaxial coarse and fine focus for ergonomics and an efficient workflow.
    • The trinocular photo port allows you to easily mount a camera. The T490 is compatible with our CX series C-mount photo ports with built-in reduction.
    • Includes an oil darkfield condenser and a specialized 100X darkfield objective lens. Darkfield observation will provide contrast in otherwise indistinguishable objects by highlighting changes in refractive index.

The T490-DK adds darkfield illumination to our hardest-working microscope. A top choice for veterinarians, breeders, and clinics, this instrument has proven reliability and optical quality. It boasts features such as a compensation-free Siedentopf head, smooth stage translation, and a precision focus system with easy tension-adjustment and vertical-lock. The simul-focal trinocular head provides a dedicated photo port which can be used simultaneously with both eyepieces. With brightfield and darkfield illumination, this model is ideal for bloodwork, fluid-analysis, and pathology.

To customize the microscope to your viewing comfort, the eyepiece spacing can be easily adjusted using a precision Siedentopf mechanism. A diopter is available on the both ocular tubes to compensate for asymmetry, and the ocular tubes are angled at 30° to comfortably accommodate a seated position without neck strain. The 23mm photo port is height-adjustable to match focus with the eyepieces, and can be replaced with an optional CX series C-mount port which have built-in reduction, and can directly interface with C-mount cameras.

The objective turret provides instant access to 4 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 1000X. Additional 20X eyepieces expand the maximum magnification to 2000X with 8 unique levels. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.

The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level. The Abbe light condenser has a high 1.25 numerical aperture for oil-immersion, and an iris diaphragm to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser holder uses rack-and-pinion movement for precise height adjustment.

An oil darkfield condenser and specialized 100X darkfield objective lens are included for darkfield observation. The condenser is designed for use with immersion oil, and can accommodate higher numerical-aperture lenses. Two centering screws allow you to properly center the condenser for optimal contrast. The 100X plan-achromatic lens has a built-in iris to adjust its numerical aperture for fine-tuning contrast. Darkfield observation will provide contrast in otherwise indistinguishable objects by highlighting changes in refractive index. This is particularly useful for observing live cells including blood analysis.

This is my first microscope, and oh boy it's interesting to look at all nearby waterpounds an moss. After seeing some tardigrades, rotifers and nematods, now also my children understand why they should not drink water from the ground or lakes. The scope itself is a nice beginner microscope, but with limited upgrading capability. I purchased the darkfield with 100x oil immersion that is deffinately not worth the money. Darkfield does not work over 40x, the 100x lens is crap without oil. I 3d printed some filter inserts from thingiverse that gives better darkfield. Watch out, the oil bottle that comes with the scope is sealed, if you squeeze it without cutting it ooen first, all the oil will be on your stage. I purchased the plan 10x and that is deffinately worth the money. My favorite objective so far! It would be nice if the scope had a extra field condenser it seems to be needed especially for 40x. Will probably hack one together from some camera equipment. Another bad thing is that i ordered LED version, and they sent me halogen. Have read that it happened to someone else and it was a horror story to get it returned, so I will stick with the halogen, even if it heats up the microorganisms faster. All in all, good beginner/first scope. Dont get the dark field, instead 3d print a set of filters. Deffinately get the plan 10x.
